The Workshop

and what to expect

  • Besides being given the opportunity to meet and discuss your show with some of the best show-designers in the activity today, we hope to offer each ensemble a tailored, structured approach to their season, and to take in the countless and dynamic variables of their current circumstances and ensure that they are in a class where they in which they will find success.

  • The Evaluation Workshop is a much smaller, much more intimate environment than a show.  To provide the optimal environment for focus, free-discussion and performance, the workshop day:

    • Will not provide concessions

    • Will not have official announcing

    • Will not sell merchandise

    • Will not have an awards ceremony

    • Will only permit members of the performing ensemble community to remain in the “audience”

  • Rehearse as you would for any other show, except communicate to your students that they will have 2 run throughs of their performance.

Have your 2025 Color Guard Program Information Form completed and submitted the deadline as described in your regular communications from CVGPA.

  • There will not be a show announcement that will initiate your performance - a member of the CVGPA personnel will unofficially ‘okay’ your start time.
Each ensemble will have the opportunity to perform two run-throughs of their show, with conversation between staff and adjudicators occurring throughout

  • There will not be an audience during this event. Individuals in the gym will be limited to:

    • CVGPA Personnel

    • Adjudicators

    • Ensemble Instructional Staff

    • Ensemble Support Team

Ensemble staff & support teams must all enter the arena together, and must all exit together following the performance. There is no entry fee.

If there is somebody that the ensemble staff does not recognize in the audience, please inform a CVGPA official. Likewise, if somebody enters. the arena from any other entry besides the ensemble entry, they will be asked to leave.

  • There is not an awards-retreat at this event - there is also a strict no-audience policy. So following your performance, you may pack up and depart the facility!

  • The judges may offer ideas for class changes following the event. These recommendations will be given to the ensemble before the publication of the schedule for Show #1.

Note - Class changes can occur throughout the season. If you wish to change classes, materials will be made available shortly to guide the process.
